CEREAL-ously Lucky
It’s St. Paddy’s Day,
so green’s the rule,
But Willie’s carryin’ on
like a fool.
He’s grinnin’ wide
as he waves his spoon,
Like luck will strike
any minute soon.
He hollers,
“Tillie! Look at me!
I’m CEREAL-ously Lucky,
see?”
He’s munchin’ charms
out of a bowl,
Thinkin’ them oats
will bless his soul.
I crossed my arms
and gave a sigh,
“That’s why your luck
keeps runnin’ dry.
You’ve got it wrong,
as you often do,
There ain’t no gold
in that bowl for you.”
But Willie just smiled
with milk on his chin,
Sure in his heart
that he somehow did win.
And I rolled my eyes,
but still had to agree,
I picked that old fool,
and he picked me.
