SAIL-ebrating July Fourth

Willie hollered, “We’re SAIL-ebrating!
Fetch my captain’s hat!”
I said, “Willie, listen closely, dear,
That ain’t what they meant by that!”

He hoisted Old Glory nice and high,
Stars stretched bow to stern.
I said, “It’s celebrating, dear.”
He said, “Well, live and learn!”

Fireworks popped above our sails,
Red, white, and blue up high,
Willie shouted, “Best SAIL-ebration yet!”
While gulls judged him from the sky.

Now here we are, just drifting home,
Our flag still flying free,
And I’ll admit, that silly man
Had the best seat on the sea.

Turns out Willie got it right…
In his own confused way,
Cause somehow every wrong he did
Made it the best Fourth day.
